Reiki is an alternative therapy and spiritual practice used for healing. It's become a popular modality to learn and practice because it only requires an open mind. No tools or equipment are needed. The more often we do reiki, the more intuitive we become.
The Reiki Practitioner is an antenna to the healing energy that is all around us. Putting their hands on or over the areas of the body needing healing allows this healing energy to flow through the body. It works on the chakras, also known as the emotional centres of the body. When the recipient receives this energy, it allows them to get in touch with their own healing potential.
Reiki was discovered by Dr. Usui in the mid 19th century in present day Nagayo, Japan. He had been conducting research for decades about healing through the hands. While also a Christian monk, it was during meditation that lasted weeks while up in the mountains when the original Reiki symbols came to him. The symbols were carried down through a lineage of several generations of Reiki Masters...
One of the eleven Masters Dr. Usui taught was Dr. Chujiro Hayashi. He is known to the be the 'Second Grand Master' of Reiki and he made it a practical practice, and is responsible for bringing the practice to the west in 1940. One of his students,
Hawayo Takata, from Hawaii brought the practice to mainland U.S. and she is known for opening the minds of North American's to the healing capabilites of Reiki.
If you have a condition that you are interested to see if it responds to this modality,
